Alumni

If you wish to receive news, info, and deals pertaining to alumni, please join the new National Collegiate 4-H Alumni announcement listserv, as this current listserv will be used for posting the latest info from the national organization, primarily aimed at current members. Just send a blank e-mail to collegiate4-halumni-subscribe@googlegroups.com

Also, we’re working on a special part of the website for you, so stay tuned!

National & Regional Listservs

Subscribe to the National Collegiate 4-H Listserv

Browse Archives at groups.google.com

Each region has their own listserv to communicate and share ideas among Collegiate 4-H clubs near you and communicate about upcoming events in your region including the regional conference. You may subscribe to yours by sending a blank e-mail to:
North Central Region: ncrcollegiate4h-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Northeast Region : neregion4h-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Southern Region: src4h-all-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Western Region: wrcollegiate4h-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

All of the listservs allow you to change your settings, so you may receive daily digests of messages or only special notices, if you are concerned about the amount of e-mails you receive. The Web Team promises to limit the number of e-mails sent over the national listserv to only national announcements and save members’ discussion for the message boards

National Website

The National Collegiate 4-H Web Team , a group of dedicated Collegiate 4-H members from across the country, has completed the initial design for Collegiate4h.org! Please check it out and let us know what you think! It features bi-monthly news updates via our blog about clubs, regions and national, National Service Project information, links to all Collegiate 4-H clubs, a Hall of Fame for past national award winners, Conference updates and past conference features, a complete collection of all National Collegiate 4-H documents (including meeting minutes for the National Business meeting and our updated constitution) and a message board for you to share and discuss your ideas and programs with other clubs. Please note, that this is the first time that all of this material and information has been gathered in one spot and made accessible to all members of Collegiate 4-H! It is quite an accomplishment.
We’ve updated the site with new content at least 3 times a week in the past 2 months, and there’s plenty more new content to come this summer including a photo gallery and resources for starting Collegiate 4-H club!

Collegiate 4-H Taskforce Report

This report was compiled by a group of passionate Collegiate 4-H members for the 2006 Conference after six months of soliciting feedback from all levels of the National Collegiate 4-H Organization about the current and future objectives of our organization. The Report was released at the national conference is now available online at http://www.collegiate4h.org/docs/ for anyone to read.

The Collegiate 4-H Taskforce has officially been dissolved. Thank you to the members for their hard work!

News and Photos Search

The National Collegiate 4-H Advocacy Team is looking for news and photos from clubs and conferences. If your club is doing any events this summer (such as workshops at a conference, traveling somewhere, a camp, or well anything…) or received a end of the year award, we want to hear about it. Please send anything you might have to April Mendenhall. Anything you can share will help our efforts of better communicating to the world what Collegiate 4-H members are currently doing and strengthen and increase our image and visibility!

NAB Update

The National Action Board is comprised of 2 representatives from each region: the current regional president and the immediate past president, a secretary and business manager, advisers, and liaisons from each national committee. They are charged with serving as liaisons between regions by communicating information and ideas that clubs in their regions are doing with each other and their regions, promoting club and membership development in their regions, promoting Collegiate 4-H nationally, developing partnerships for the organization, ensuring implementation of the National Service Project, and maintaining and distributing the monies in National Collegiate 4-H’s account. This year the NAB has had 3 meetings since April and will be having a 3 day NAB Retreat in July to work on strategic planning for the National Organization. They publish their minutes via blog. Their next meeting will be held on June 25th, 2006. Individuals interested in making an agenda request should contact the NAB Chair, Antoine Jefferson or their regional president.

Read more about the NAB and find a link to the NAB Blog at the NAB website.

Strategic Planning Update

Strategic planning for the future of the National Collegiate 4-H Organization is being done this year to create a strategic plan for the national organization. The NAB will draft an initial proposal during their July meeting, followed by research, polling, and discussion among the nation’s members, which will be facilitated and compiled by the National Collegiate 4-H Strategic Planning Committee, who will provide recommendations to be implemented into a final Strategic Plan, to be approved by NAB and shared with organization in the fall for implementation. The Northeast region still needs a representative; if interested, please contact Vanessa Cerny, Northeast Region President.
You will receive more information about how you can provide your opinions and feedback via the National Listserv and also on the News Blog by the end of July! Until then, feel free to discuss your concerns and ideas on the message boards.

Read more about the Strategic Planning process and find your Regional Representative on the committee.

Advocacy Team Update

The Advocacy Team has been creating marketing materials for Collegiate 4-H clubs to use at the local level. They are also collecting news and photos as mentioned above and will continue to promote Collegiate4h.org and the message boards as methods of communications across regions!

National Service Project of Emphasis Update

This year two projects were selected by the national body to be the National Service Projects of Emphasis. They include Collegiate 4-H Clubs working with Operation Military Kids , which is chaired by Iowa State University and the online “Resource Library for the 4-H Community” is being chaired by a Member-at-Large from Indiana University. Information about participation in the resource library service project will be released before July 1st at the National Service Project website! The online structure for the project is still being devised and tested. Information about Collegiate 4-H Clubs working with Operation Military Kids will be released later this summer.

Read more at the National Service Project website

Conference Update

Baton Rouge, February 15-18, 2007 is the date for the next National Collegiate 4-H Conference. Estimated costs so far are $250 per person, so start fundraising early! Hotel rooms have been reserved for club members interested in arriving 2 days early or 2 days later if they wish to do some on-their-own touring of Baton Rouge or visit Mardi Gras.

It is recommended that members and clubs that are interested in the special conference rate for pre or post-conference contact Patrick by August 2006, as southern Louisiana experiences high room demand for that time of year. There may be rooms later than that time, but the sooner you book, the better your chances of having one!

Message Board Post of the Month

We want to know what your clubs are doing this summer! Share what you’re doing and read what others are doing in the Clubs, Programs, and Activities forum!

Collegiate 4-H Tip of the Month

Submitted by Jess Falkenthal, Indiana University

Looking for a new way to advertise your group and find 4-H alumni and potential members? Your club might already have a Collegiate 4-H Facebook group, but try creating a “4-H Alumni” Facebook group and invite all your alumni friends. Do a little search to find a few 4-H alums in your university and invite them to the group, and check back as your potential member contact list grows by itself! 😉
